Why We Went Green

A special open letter to all of you from the Founder of our company, Russell Seifert:

I began my previous career of the last 18 years with little thought of the carbon imprint I was helping to create.  However, living in Atlanta means living with the traffic.  I couldn’t help but notice that one of the worst traffic cities in the nation was having a deleterious effect on the air quality and the health of everyone breathing it.  Next, came all the warnings about global warming.  At first, the cries seemed like those of small birds.  Now, they are as loud as a flock of thousands.  Truly, the scientists are doing just that, all speaking up in order to grasp our attention.  They, certainly, had mine.  Why?  I have young children.

As I teach my children about the importance of taking care of our Earth and of all the things they can do to feel empowered to make a difference, I realized that I wasn’t living in authenticity.  By this, I mean that I was “speaking” and “teaching” but not actually doing enough.  So, what was I really teaching them?

How could I ask my children to stand up and hold precious the planet that sustains our lives, our entire race and every being we see, if my job was still part of the problem?  Please understand me.  I loved my job, and I enjoyed the people with whom I had contact, everyday.  I’ve met many amazing individuals and am thankful for the experience.  However, a time came when I realized that it was necessary for me to make a change.

After months of research and soul searching, I came to the conclusion that the renewable energy field is where my heart lies—specifically working with solar and wind power solutions.  This is a path that has long intrigued me, and I feel this is where I am meant to work.  To put it simply, I had decided to reduce, and to a certain degree, reverse my carbon imprint.

How large was my imprint in my previous career?  One day, I calculated the amount of CO2 emissions per year I helped create, and the number came to a whooping 272,838,000 pounds.  Seeing this number on the calculator both humbled and energized me.  Now, I chose a better way, a positive vocationone that will help the world we give to our children.

Creative Solar USA is the manifestation of those long hidden desires and that energy of change.

Now every morning, I wake up eager to start my day.  This is the beginning of a whole host of changes we’ll be seeing in the years to come.  I’m excited to be part of the new wave, part of the change.  I’m enthusiastic to help others see the need and recognize their ability to embrace positive changes, too.  I count it as my honor to empower others in this way and have made it a part of our mission statement.

Having access to renewable energy is just one of the myriad of ways each of us can lower our carbon footprints.  I challenge each of you to consider what it is that you, too, can do to have a positive effect on the environment, the Earth you’ll leave to your children.

Now, understand, that I’m about peaceful, positive change.  That means, if you are in a space where these types of changes do not speak to you, I’ll gladly wait until you are.  I’m not out to change your mind.  I changed mine.  That’s all I can do, anyway.

Whether your time for change is now or later, please know there is so much each of us can do just in simple every day decisions and actions.  Of course, I recognize that many of you may be confused about where to start.  However in “Going Green”, you have to, at least, be to willing make the first step.  So…what’s yours going to be?
