Wind Power Facts
Here are some more neat and interesting pieces of information about wind power that you might not already know.
- Like solar power, wind power is free, renewable and inflation-free.
- California has the highest amount of wind power installed in the nation with enough turbines installed to power about 500,000 households and climbing! Texas comes in 2nd with their installed levels about half of California's.
- Wind power farm costs are comparable or less than new coal or gas-run power plants. Plus, they can be installed and "online" in half or a third of the time!
- There's a school in Iowa that has installed a turbine as a special project. Calculated savings for its lifetime are approximately $1.6 million (or more as fossil fuel costs continue to sky-rocket).
- An entire wind farm will see a complete ROI in as little as 3-9 months.
- Fossil fuels have additional costs that will rise even more due to their deleterious effect on the workers in their industry and the environment. Since wind power is clean power, it is free from these, and as such, even cheaper.
- As the use of wind power increases, more jobs are created, bolstering local, state and national economies.
